We live on top of a hill, the views are magnificent. I can spend hours just staring at the ever changing scenery. It always amazes me how quickly it changes and looks depending on the weather.
I've watched the most breathtaking lightening storms from my kitchen over the valley below and seen snow clouds emptying their contents hours before reaching my home.
There is always a price to pay though and that is the wind. When it is windy it is really windy here. We are totally exposed and bear the brunt of any windy storms. Even getting in the car can be a major feat.
And it has been so blowy here for the last two weeks constantly.
Every time I have woken in the night and first thing in the morning I am aware of the wind and rain crashing into the back of the south facing house. I can't remember a time when the wind and rain have been so relentless.
In fact as I sit here now in the middle of the day I can't tell whether there are rolls of thunder I can hear or if it's the wind again.
Luckily the house is very old but sturdy.
I do have rain coming in to some of the rooms because of the force of the wind and being so exposed but flooding is not a threat unlike the poor people in some parts of the UK at the moment.
Although the gusts have been very strong I don't recall ever being really worried by them ( okay just remembered, once I thought the roof could blow off and daughter worries about a particularly huge tree falling on the house) because the house feels like our refuge. Although a very large house it has always felt calm, friendly, cosy. I felt comfortable in this house from day one, it was home straight away.
I have never been scared here, unlike every other house I have ever lived in. It seems to give off good vibes and if it has any ghosts in it they are friendly ones.
In the past whenever I've viewed a house in the hope of buying it I have been put off by the bad energy they give off, we even viewed two houses side by side, the one I liked was in complete disarray and needed a fortune spending on it, the one next door gave off bad vibes. We ended up buying the one that didn't need the work due to funds. I never ever felt comfortable there, it never felt like home.
Again as I type this, rain like I have never seen before in the UK is coming down. It is unbelievable but it makes me feel so grateful that I am sheltered in my beautiful warm house.
Anyway, I better go and get my raincoat and wellies on, it's time to venture out and brave the elements to pick up the children from school.

So strange I was going to write about my relationship with my house had I not got drunk last night and I know exactly how you feel I am a real believer in gut instincts this house is known to be haunted but the ghost must be really nice and grateful for how beautiful we have made her/his surroundings :) xxx
Rain? We used to have some of that, once upon a time, ha ha. I wish it would rain here in CA. It's about 70 degrees outside, I miss it :)
Houses have souls--I believe that.
I certainly believe that houses have bad vibes. When I was little, I lived with my parents in a house that I thought had bad vibes and they ended up getting divorced. Moved into another badly vibed house with Hubby and we nearly got divorced! Luckily we moved out before that happened.
Despite the wind and the rain it sounds like a wonderful 'safe haven'.
I really like that piccy.
Much love RMxx
It looks like something in a scary movie like a monster is gonna jump out at any moment now. Oh dear, I must go and hide.
